BINTUMANI FORUM

After all, if every economic issue is framed as a struggle between a hard-working white middle class and undeserving minorities, then workers of all shades will be left fighting for scraps while the wealthy withdraw further into their private enclaves - Barack Obama

This England: from Richard II
William Shakespeare

This royal throne of kings, this scepter’d isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall,
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England,

Who wants to take a punt on a losers’s final? I guess none of us should chicken out when the finishing line is slightly.

England has blown it big time. The draw really opened for them and they seemed to have the rub of the green with traditional World Cup semi-finalists such as Germany, Argentina and Brazil falling by the way side and former winners Italy and Holland not appearing in the finals. They let the massive opportunity to play in a world cup final in a generation slip from their grasp. It remains to be seen when next such a great chance will present itself again.

In the end, the familiar flaws and frailties of typical England teams, such as using a right-footer on the left wing, running out of puff in second half of games and at the business end of tournaments , defending a one goal lead for long periods of time and not utilising the full potential of their whole squad with blind loyalty to some underperforming stars in the course of a match. Letting Dele Ali and Lingard, who could not see the ball, let alone keep it in the Second Half, play for the whole duration of that match beggars belief.

How they could get over such a disappointment to grab a loser’s medal today might be beyond them. They have already been beaten by the same opponent in the group match. My mind says it is a Belgium win but my heart will be throbbing fro England.

To play the devil's advocate, it got to be said that, this is a young and inexperienced England Squad who beyond all expectations from pundits and fans alike, managed to take England to their first World cup semi-finals in three decades.

There is room for consolidation and improvement and with the youth teams' recent success in the world stage, there is a pipeline and conveyor belt of talent in waiting to step up the plate and not make this relative achievement a fluke, a one-off or a proverbial one swallow does not make a summer thing.

This is a tough one. England will probably field players who haven't featured so much, which gives Belgium the advantage.

Can we (2 simmer here) raise ourselves for last game?

England 2 Belgium 2

England to win on kicks from the penalty spot.
