For the sake of money, irreverent people will kill their own mothers.

For the sake of ill-gotten wealth, the greed in some folks will allow them to enable global terrorism.

For the love of money, a principled man, once thought out to be, will abandon his perceived impeccable morals, mores, and principles to lie in bed with the devil.

For the love of money, a once perceived learned professor of some sort will give in to his insatiable need to rev up on the rector scale of the nouveau riche.

For the love of money, the mores of cultural values of family count no more.

The statements afore-stated are my own renditions of the song made famous by the O'Jays; "Money, Money, Money" relative to the  cross-carpeting of the "watermelon" moles that were in our midst in the SLPP: Usu the Weasel; John Ali; Sembu, the guy who graduated from the HU School of Communication back in the day; the capitaine from the US Army (dishonourably discharged), and that little ha-l-t from the UK - what's her name? Plus all the incorrigible wretches who served as moles for Bombali Erness and his crew in my SLPP.

Usu, the Weasel, was always on the Iranian payroll, even when ATK was his godfather, allowing him to steal the peoples' mined diamonds, and gold fiti-fata. The nigga was pretending to be his father's son in loyalty to the SLPP course, camouflaging the scheme of spying for Bombali E, and Cozin Vic, the foe. At the same time, Usu, the weasel, was on the payroll of the Iranians for the excavation rights in mining for U-238, to be converted into U-235 in Tehran, or thereabouts, in diametric opposition to the whims of my favourite Uncle Sam, and his adopted son in Tel Aviv, for the development of the nuclear bomb. All in the name of wiping the latter from the face of the Earth.

Usu, the weasel, was in the right spot as Director of Mines in that ministry for over twenty years until ATK retired him. Could y'all imagine the havoc Usu, the Weasel, would have caused to all freedom-loving peoples all over the globe if the SLPP delegates had voted for him as flagbearer, and won the Presidency of Saro under the circumstances of his greedy affiliation with rogue states, the sponsors of global terrorism? I know dem morda'fers enabled the internecine brutal war to rage on for those ghastly ten years under cloud nine, and they profited very handsomely from that period, and now they'd like to be at the helm again so that the seeming legitimacy in their national plunder would be more forthright in the global mindset. It is all a 419 scam game they are playing (politricks), not realpolitik - in the sense of governing the nation properly to attain national self-sufficiency into modernity.

They claim to have solved the energy/power problem. But there is no light 24/7/365 in the capital city. They claim to be building a four-gauge road at a hundred mille per seventeen kilometers, while ATK built a one-hundred kilometer highway to La Guinee for much less than that. Freetong is as filthily dirty as ever, with the collective health of the population there very much at stake. I guess they are immuned to filth and unhealthy living.

Whom are these borggeddors trying to fool? The un-educated gullible ones in na we Saro, I guess. Furthermore, if these niggas were that popular in the Capital City, when Usu, the Weasel, and dem other turncoats, were returning home to roost, why did they have to bus folks in (their so-called supporters) from as far away as Bo, Makeni, and Magburaka?

Even the Ruskies are mad at Usu, the Weasel. They have vowed to institute a coup d'Etat if Usu, the Weasel, is on the ticket with Bombali E, should the latter win the November 2012 elections. But knowing my Uncle Sam, as I do, and my boy, Barack, now in the know, I'd be damned if Maada Bio will not win those elections, and my SLPP winning an overall majority in the Parliament. Let them phone GK, in an NYC prison,  and ask about the power my Uncle Sam has over rogues, thieves, and con artists.

I am exceedingly happy that the moles have now returned home to roost in their natural habitat.

Usu just declared for the APCerian Party on the 9th of June, and he is already standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Bombali E (he had decried so vehemently in the past), and that crutish crook, (what is his name?), at the funeral of the slain youths by his police/osd, shedding crocodile tears for dem youths (some man say nar human sara den pull so as per dem murrayman for win in November), and the gullible ones blashpheme ehn call the boggeh dem, Yesu Christi, ehn claim say ee sabi politics - pooorreehhh! He did the same thing in '09 when his thugs destroyed and raped females at the SLPP headquarters - TWICE.

Den tink say den sabi politics! We go wass dem face go upward in November 2012. Leh den wait normor. Ee nor matter ormoss den don spend for arms, the will of the peoples is stronger than even atomic weapons.

Excellent observations, Prof.  I was in Sierra Leone in April this year and observed first hand all the problems that you have outlined.  In addition to the filth of Freetown, armed robbery and pick-pocketing are on the rise.  And this is not only in Freetown but in all the major cities of the country.

I am particularly interested in the Freetown vote in November.  Since the capital is far worse than Bo, Kenema and Makeni, lets see how Ernest Koroma is going to pull it off there in the midst of widespread complaints relative to poverty and crime.

@ Sage:

Thank you kindly for the "welcome back" salutation, Comrade Sage.

I had to reappear on the forum to castigate this son-of-a-b-t-h, Usu, the weasel. This nigga had all of us mesmerized, as if he was the second-coming in the SLPP, not knowing that he was just a highly-placed mole, common thief, and criminal, on the payroll of the Iranians, and other rogue states - Libya included.

Why do you think that the late Muammar Ghaddafy DROVE all the way from Tripoli to Freetown, on two occassions, with a contingent of over 300 armed soldiers; I mean very well-armed soldiers - pitching his tent on some four acres of land provided to him by the robbers in politics, and subsequently made an honorary MP, with the likes of Eddie Turay bowing down to him in the chambers of parliament? He went there to seek a deal wherein he'd be given the mining rights to secure a large consignment of U-238 newly discovered, after all what he did to the victims in the RUF war of plunder. But where is now? Six feet under in the Libyan desert. My Uncle Sam is very tolerant, until you cross what he stands for in the freedom and happiness he espouses in his democratic constitution for all mankind.

They know for a fact that the French have a monopoly over the uranium mined in Niger, and Mali, and so the Iranians, Libyans, Chinese, and Ruskies, yearn to easily convince our very corrupt leaders with a few million bucks for the mineral rights of extraction of this very valuable radioactive substance - the fundamental basis of weapons of mass destruction

For one to see how successful these deals have been, just examine the cars/SUV's these niggas drive around in the midst of such severe poverty; the mansions they have built, and are building. Look at Bombali E, the prezo, demolishing a perfectly habitable mansion in Goderich, and now constructing an even more elaborate one on the same spot. Why on God's earth did this man not build the new one right next to the old one thereby leaving it intact for occupancy by some extended family members from Romgburaka/Romkeni in the North? This is insanity, and it just shows how power/ill-gotten wealth corrupts absolutely.

Their ambassador to Ruskieland, yam-ass-u, a pauper a few years ago, is now constructing a multi-million dollar compound on his ancestral land in Kono.

The crutish crook, Alhaji Abuja, bought the plane seized in the cocaine raid, and he has yet to obtain his pilot's license. I guess African Minerals, or Kono Diamond Holdings, will provide a pilot for him until he can fly the plane himself. I hope they do not use that plane to enhance their smuggling activities? There are so many disgusting things to write about these politrickcians. They have no scruples in allowing the nation to stay in the rot it has been in for the past fifty years, as long as their selfish ends are met. In Temene, they call it gbehsi-gbeshi. Kapu-kapu, in Mende.

I am sick to my stomach, whenever I have to write about the sordid deals and deeds they are subjecting the population in Saro to. Especially, when people I once highly respected join their lot. How can a country be so wealthily endowed and yet be so poor in all aspects of decent human endeavor, and well-being?

@ Kawusu:

I am glad you went over there to see for yourself what utter lies have been propagated by their sychophants in cyberdom. I am also very happy that you are back in the civilized world, without being contaminated by their bad habits. These people have no morals. But our peoples will surely overcome in the near future.

A moving piece Sengbe.

“Whom are these borggeddors trying to fool? The un-educated gullible ones in na we Saro, I guess” (Sengbe)

Well, the people that you mention are in the majority when it comes to casting their ballot. If all that you have said here is true, how do you get that message across to them – and if that message could possibly supersede/ overcome tribal affiliations and the loyalties thereof, as a consideration when casting their ballots, how do you ensure that one fallible bunch of palm trees (the slpp) which JEL ( not the ignorant CH) says is

a party fronted by ex-junta personalities and under the sordid influence of those I personally know as nation wreckers, money grubbing lying rogues, false pretenders for money and such-like characters,...” will succeed in blocking the midday sun and will not not slide back & away from its good intentions and the monkey hands start taking taking at least an occasional dip into the national treasury whilst the vast majority of the population wallows in abject poverty”(as Mr Bio, said recently in Canada)

This preventive measure can only be ensured through the rule of law – and it will take the rule of law -

to look into justice’s beautiful face
And to see an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth”

This impartiality in Justice cannot easily be achieved by the SLPP appointing their own judges.

On Sunday night ( Swedish time) MKK and I reminisced about the good old days when we had people of integrity like Sir Salako Benka-Coker , Justice Livsley Luke, Sir Samuel Bankole-Jones,.

The Torah portion SHOFTIM outlines the criteria for choosing Judges and these are still applicable.

You also say that

Even the Ruskies are mad at Usu, the Weasel. They have vowed to institute a coup d'Etat if Usu, the Weasel, is on the ticket with Bombali E, should the latter win the November 2012 elections.”

Surely, your imagination is getting too power for you. Our neighbour the Russians don't do things that way.

You seem to be forgetting the subtle UK ( the brain) which is another kind of player than their former colony ( Mr. Muscle) the US of A, when it comes to Sierra Leone.

From what Mr. Bio said in Canada, it looks like he would like the whole election process monitored from the very beginning to the end. He said,

it is not just the fairness of the poll that matters; the attendant conditions are just as important, for elections are only as good as the conditions in which they are held. Therefore international observation should cover not just the day on which the poll is held but the entire electioneering process beginning with the registration of voters through to the announcement of the poll results.”

This makes a lot of sense to me, but it's a little late now ( about voter registration) and perhaps if Bio has his way, is patient and dedicated, the whole process will be supervised as he has indicated, come the election of 2017, when after ten years of the APC, he could have a better chance of being in charge of the oil - and by which time West Africa could have have displaced the Middle East, as he envisions, but not before then....

No more prattle.

Goodnight SengB and please be careful be very careful  and try to avoid taking too many liberties when talking to the person that you imagine is me....

Turn from evil and try to practice. good. Be good...

Good night.

I think the president and 'All the President's Men' in Bintu, are getting a wee bit carried away, thinking that the people of Sierra Leonean will continue to lay on their lappas en kroo-bomboh on the ground for the prezo to walk, on while THEYstand naked and hungry.

The reality is that the people are not fools any more, as the 2007 election results proved: 'Money cannot buy you love nor votes' - when you are in power. Ask Berewa!

Usu (the weassel?) may have his ill-gotten wealth to Aid the president's efforts in buying votes across the country, but the electorate know better: ' They will chop and run'.

This is the cancer destroying the SLPP! Bartoliners don't think out of the box and are too dull to see big pictures.Posting such marathon and run-of-the-mill crap does not in anyway prove intellectualism. Cross-carpetting is a normal practice in politics and Usu Boi should not be singled out as a special case.

Instead of spending your precious time time castigating defectors I think you guys should be strategizing a way forward especially how you are going to embrace the next opposition role after November 17 and at the same time worrying over whether you will be playing the opposition as a leader or follower keeping your strongest rival the UDM in mind.

Elections in Sierra Leone

How much has really changed ? Much infrastructure development.

Dem Belly full but we hungry” was a popular song played by the opposition parties in Port Harcourt during the election campaign of 1983., in Nigeria. The PNP won. Popular discontent/ dissent did not translate into mass protests and therefore could not overthrow the government through the popular ballot box.

There are amateurs,.A leader, no matter how brilliant or well intentioned with “attitudinal change” or “Seven National Values” will still have to deal with the fabric/ texture called Sierra Leone society/ mentality.

In my view, the major challenge facing Sierra Leone is the building, strengthening development of democratic institutions – and the judiciary is a very important institution if we are going to maintain the rule of law .

So is the de-politicisation of the military and the Police....

But bra cornie, you must agree with me that the prezo blundered big time with his misplaced priorities - focusing on road construction - costing hundreds of millions of dollars, in a country where:

- People have no clean water to drink, let alone - not so clean water to wash their hands after using the toilet

- Lack of electricity is destroying the very existence of businesses that pay taxes to government and create jobs

-  Garbage and dangerous refuse are left uncollected throughout the capital Freetown

- Education standards and outcomes are falling like topsy

- Not to talk of the economy. The least said, the better!

Bra Cornie, I just cannot see the red shoots of hope - in the midst of the green forest!

How can constructing roads and highways be bad for the economy? we are in the 20th century, my friends. SLPP chopped more than 1 billion dollars worth of road construction funds, and you were very happy about it. You didn't say finnnn! now that this president has done something worthwhile, and raised the standard of living (inspite of SLPP sabotage and disruption), you are grousing still. This is why we will reward Ernest Koroma with a landslide and leave you SLPP complainers to cluck like overweight hens. Hehehehe.

Big Obasie: "How can constructing roads and highways be bad for the economy?"

Oba, in theory and in a normally run economy, or one that has all the building blocks necessary for new industries to start and existing ones to expand, there is nothing bad about road construction.

But in an economy such ours, where the continuing success of the few large companies that are currently responsible for paying the most taxes and employ the most number of people, do not immediately require new roads, then we must allocate scarce resources accordingly.

Some of those new roads that are being constructed in Freetown, including Wilkinson Road and part of the Peninsular Highway, are certainly luxurious capital spending that we do not need right away.

There are far more pressing areas of national economic need that we should be investing that money on, so as to improve our chances of attracting high quality investments in manufacturing and agro-based industries.

One such building block is our country's human resource capacity and capability. With 70% illiteracy and almost 95% low or unskilled workforce, how do we expect industries to start and expand?

By all means let us have the new roads and highways, but not on the backs of such abject poverty: no water to wash dirty hands and drink, poor standards of education, and virtually no electricity, no water to supply the industries that we expect to start or grow.

I would argue for example that the millions of dollars spent on constructing a new dual carriageway at Wilkinson Road, could have been spent on rehabilitating Guma valley Dam and other vital waterways such as Orogu; as well as those old reservoirs that are desperately in need of being brought back to use since they were shut down in the 1980s.

I can go on and on, but I hope that explains why I said that APC blundered big time in their misplaced priorities, after 5 years in power.

Oh yes, of course, Kabbah's SLPP made some significant policy blunders, especially the uncontrollable corruption, which after the war, was unconscionable.

But that must not justify APC's culture of Kleptocracy and poor governance we see today.

As I said, I am struggling to see the RED shoots amid the GREEN forests!

-People have no clean water to drink, let alone - not so clean water to wash their hands after using the toilet

  • Exaggerating will not help! If your claim is based only on Guma services then you have a job in your hands but if you try to broaden it a bit and allow spring water and other water works in the east-end of Freetown to come in, then the problem is not so acute as you are exaggerating to be. What about the numerous streams, rivers and wells?

- Lack of electricity is destroying the very existence of businesses that pay taxes to government and create jobs
  • Don't tell me Bumbuna and the Bo and Kenema hydros are inoperational.I will agree with you if you talk about a sporadic supply due to a floundering overall electricity system.

- Garbage and dangerous refuse are left uncollected throughout the capital Freetown
  • These are mainly isolated cases and infrequent! The whole thing has SLPP sabotage written all over it.It is believed that some unpatriotic and unscruplous SLPP elements are in the evil habit of depositing garbage at strategic locations under the cover of the night and alert pro-SLPP newspapers to do their usual propaganda stuff.

- Education standards and outcomes are falling like topsy
  • Though this is a legacy from the past governments, the APC is working assiduously towards alleviating sufferings in the knowledge industry. As a first bold move the government has eradicated the practices of 'die-man' and untrained teachers as well as after-school lesson syndicates.Had it not been for the brain-drain we are facing the unis could have been with lots of PhD holders by now.The government is also working towards equipping our unis and polytechnics so that world class engineers, technicians and doctors will be produced. The curriculum has been revised with emphasis on vocational and technical education.

- Not to talk of the economy. The least said, the better!
  • If the American and most European economies are closer to tailspinning,to borrow from you,the least said about Salone's economic performance the better!

Unlike the  celebratedInsurance Salesman, Julius  Maada Bio hasbeen trained in International and Strategic studies at American University to assumeresponsibilities in a post 9/11 era, where leaders employ  practical approaches to solve critical problems.

And quite dissimilar to those slow witted  hustlers like Usu Boi and EBK,…Maada Bio  having been endowed with  professional training , has a strongunderstanding  that  the  APC’smining and sale of Uranium within the so called Private Sector is an  irresponsible policy with many loopholes  that can imperil and compromise globalsecurity.

Accordingly, Maada  Bio has intimated that if elected he willproceed with haste to regulate  all APC Uraniumcontracts by first voiding them before  forminga working  group with the UN and other Stakeholdersto assist with the developing of a framework  for the”safe” mining and sale of uranium tobenefit Sierra Leone’s economy…without  those strategic goods falling  into the wrong hands.

So, just because the integrity of leadership is reflected inthinking attitude and action of leaders,Why would any progressive citizen  become inclined to follow  the ilk of those  “Questionable  Amateur Uranium Akartas” , also renown for  selling the country;s  diamonds for over 30 years including a 1000carat stone allegedly swapped from it's owners,..and yet they have nothing to show in their local communities for the staggering amounts ofmoney they have sytematically looted over the years from the the state and people of Sa lone..

In the end,it is more than scandalous even tothe nescient village tribalists .. that with all di looted monies ..”demdotty APC  tiffman dem still day go k@k@  na bush  en pollute dem rivers whenever  they  visittheir ancestral villages in the provinces.”

Loggy, I am going after Wusu, the Weasel, at this time because I was mesmerized by his attitude of being like the second-coming of Christ in our SLPP polity, and he disappointed me very thoroughly. In my mind he was such a staunch member of the SLPP that he came very close, by a few hundred votes less, to becoming the flagbearer. And when I researched his family background he seemed well-suited for the position, until Wiki-Leaks (in that cable from the US Embassy in Freetown) brought him down in mine eyes, regarding his evil machinations, and dealings/huslings, in his capacity as the Director of Mines in the civil service for over twenty years: Turninig very large carats of mined diamonds into miniscule ones, and other criminal activities, and wanting the Iranians to get a hold on the Uranium deposits in Saro. Has any other turncoat done that?

The way he was graciously, and ceremoniously accepted into the APC family, as if he were a prodigal son, after bad-mouthing EBK for all these years, made me become very suspicious, and I have no kind words for traitors in my vocabulary.

Was Bra John (John A Lie) accorded that much respect by EBK and Co.?

Their rationale was: why would candidates of the same party, running for the flagbearership of the party, trash each other out in public and then turn around to embrace the winner they would have trashed so severely in the public domain thereby minimizing his/her chances to be trusted by the voting public, especially when the incumbent party is NOT under any such obligation. Remember ours (in Saro) is NOT a very sophisticated society to discern subtleties in political campaign rhetoric.

In intra-party politics, the (s)elected NEC has the prerogative to set policy, and the rules to abide by in the conduct of intra-party elections, and those rules were followed to the letter by all aspirants.

U nor go wass una dorty clothes na public for all Saroman for see, ehn cam ask the same electorate for vote for the winner in a general election. Norto we culture dat. That is a western culture, not an African one.

Was the APC under any such obligation? EBK was unopposed singularly, without encountering an electoral process. Why would you want to place the SLPP at an added disadvantage?

I am sure the SLPP NEC found out about Wusu, the weasel, and his odious machinations that is why he was expelled from the party. I think they made the right decision, afterall.

ART, Fanatic of EBK, Bravo, NUN, Head Boy, Foday Suma, ICC Rep, Sage and Sengbe are all members of the RRT. MKK was a member, but he is currently on sabbatical leave. Come back soon, MKK.
ART is the Okay Morie chairman of RRT. The only sad thing is that the RRT is, according to the great Nonpartisan, sluggishly slow in their response because they suffer from political arthritis. Hehehe.
King Loggy has been too nimble for them and Kabs Kanu is too big for them to get their hands around. Kabs just belches once and the RRT scramble for cover. Score so far,

SLPP's RRT: 2
APC Sledge hammers: 4
