Sierra Leone News: Former APC Councilor declared wanted by the police
The former local Councilor of the All People’s Congress (APC), Issa Turay, has been declared wanted by the Sierra Leone Police on Monday 3rd December 2018. This declaration came after he was implicated by 18 alleged thieves who were arrested last week in the compound of Mackie Group on Bai Bureh Road in Freetown. All 18 suspects in police custody have pointed the finger at the former Councilor who is currently on the run as being the ring leader of their operation. Tarek Mackie, Director of Operations, Mackie Group, said Turay was one of the workers whom he once had enormous trust for. He said Turay, a well-known person in the Kissy community, was given free access to all the stores at Mackie Group. Mackie said since the night of the alleged theft, Turay and others fled the scene with the keys to some of the stores at Mackie Group. Police Inspector Sesay (aka Inspector 99), of the Ross Road Police Division, said the investigation is on going. The Police have surmised that the former APC Councillor was the organizer of the crime. On the 24th November 2018, thieves broke into the warehouse of Mackie Groups on Bai Bureh Road in Freetown. Thieves attempted to steal 500 bags of rice valued at Le100 million. The Police were called and made arrests. Several other suspects fled the scene of the crime including the former Councilor. The Mackie Group has issued a Le5 million reward for anyone offering information leading to the arrest of Issa Turay.
