After all, if every economic issue is framed as a struggle between a hard-working white middle class and undeserving minorities, then workers of all shades will be left fighting for scraps while the wealthy withdraw further into their private enclaves - Barack Obama

Elections Watch

Are we watching a rejection of Diasporas in the Salone elections?  Dr. Kandeh Yumkella, the candidate of the Diasporas, is running so poorly in the presidential elections that he might actually end up been beaten by Maada Bio in his own Northern turf.  So far, Samura Kamara is winning the North with Bio and Yumkella tied for second place.

People think because most of us are illiterate we can't read people. As my mum said, "Yumkella cam day befo yesterday now e want we for vote for am. Look di ranka. Way di moni way e geh from UN? Way e nor bill school or waskitul befo? Nor to tomara now e go bill waskitul."
The only thing Yumkella has achieved is that he has swept the different parties clean of hangers on. Many will never again get involved in politics and that's a good thing!
