BINTUMANI FORUM

After all, if every economic issue is framed as a struggle between a hard-working white middle class and undeserving minorities, then workers of all shades will be left fighting for scraps while the wealthy withdraw further into their private enclaves - Barack Obama

Fellow Forumites,

I hear that on Election Day there will be a ban on freedom of movement. You vote you walk home.

If there are any links to stories/videos/etc on this please share.

What is the reason for this and has this ever beeen done in the past?

Thanks

No parking and no loitering. Large crowds gathering outside or near vote-casting booths could easily lead to civil unrest/ disturbances. This mother of all elections, you vote and go home. INTILI?  Sounds reasonable enough. Obviously, in the interest of maintaining law and order.  PEACE. Peaceful elections. Indeed, where large crowds of APC/ SLPP/ NGC youths congregate there could be a likelihood of some kind of menace – a face-off between them, roforofo fight, maybe the beginning of a civil war or the 3rd World War.  For instance, we don’t want large crowds of APC-red-youths clashing with Maada Bio’s unofficial green-beret militias, in Freetown; in Bo town unofficial APC-red militias know that they would be outnumbered something like 100 to 1 and that discretion is the better part of wisdom.

Me noh want no Tribal War!

The minus point is that free citizens are also election observers, even from a safe distance, keep an eye on what’s going on.

Worst case scenario: a state of emergency being declared after some running battles between APC and SLPP and the NGC in some areas.   Yu know say dem noh lek saful….
