After all, if every economic issue is framed as a struggle between a hard-working white middle class and undeserving minorities, then workers of all shades will be left fighting for scraps while the wealthy withdraw further into their private enclaves - Barack Obama

From Awoko:

This opportunist wants us to believe its about the country, not him.
"Rogers said, “They (the APC) mean well for the country and that is the part I want to play to be part of an institution that means well for the country. If the APC happens to win the 2018 election and say Franklyn Rogers can serve this nation and give me a position, I will do so happily so it is not about personal benefit but about the nation.”

A flag-bearer aspirant for the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Franklyn Joe Rogers, said he has tendered his resignation letter from the SLPP and is joining the ruling All People’s Congress (APC).
Rogers, speaking to Awoko in a telephone interview, said he tendered his resignation letter to the Secretariat of the SLPP on the 21 June 2017. However, the Secretary General of the Party, Alie Badara Kamara, said he has not received any letter from Rogers and so he can’t comment.
Giving reasons why the switch in political affiliation, Franklyn Rogers said, “People are aware of what the SLPP has become over the past three to four years. Activities have been marred with a lot of violence and infighting perpetrated by an individual and this is not a secret.”

Rogers disclosed that he has been a victim of such violence on the 9 January 2017, when, “I was attacked by supporters of Maada Bio. They called me a terrorist and I was even tortured by them.”
Several efforts were made to get a response from Maada Bio but all efforts proved futile. During a flag-bearer press conference at the SLPP Headquarters, on Wednesday 5 July 2017, Bio had said he has no record of violence in schools and even in the military. If anyone has evidence that he has been inciting violence in the Party they should come forward.

Rogers explained, “The Party’s good reputation’s has gone down the drain all as a result of one person who wants to become a president of the country at all costs. That is the PAOPA end.”
Rogers added, “I don’t want to be part of group of people or institution that continues to encourage or condone violence and aggression. There are lot of reasons why I decided to quit.”
Questioned why he did not suspend his flag-bearer intentions and take the backseat, he said, “I cannot take a backseat at the SLPP. I want to serve the country. If the Party is not healthy and conducive to practicing the kind of politics I want to practice, and there is another institution or a very good political party like the APC, I see no reason why I should not be with them to serve this country if given the chance to do so. It is not about me, but the nation.”

Vice President Victor Foh said, “On behalf of the Chairman and Leader of the APC and the membership, we welcome Franklyn Rogers to the APC Party. The APC will respect and work with him, appreciate and reward him.”

Efforts were made to contact SLPP Chairman and Leader, Chief Sumano Kapen but phone calls and text messages went unanswered. Franklyn Rogers was also a member of the All Aspirants Alliance formed within the SLPP by different flag-bearer aspirants and it was believed Rogers was very close to Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella. But, Rogers did not he not “pitch tent” with Yumkella.

Rogers disclosed, “If I should be close with any member or working with anyone within the SLPP, it should have been Bio because we are from the same town, Tihun. But, I chose not to because of his character and reputation. Dr. Yumkulla and I were in the SLPP Alliance and I worked with almost everybody in a peaceful and cordial way. I don’t have special relationship Dr. Yumkella at all”.

I do not think Mr. Rogers has been genuine to himself. I am from Tihun myself. No one knows Mr. Rogers from that town. We know that the Rogers are from Pujehun district. Tihun is in Bonthe district.

It is only in the SLPP and among us the South-easterners, where common political principles seem to be lacking.

The APC and the SLPP are ideologically different. If you have been a member of one of the party’s to the extent that you had attempted to aspire to represent that party as presidential candidate at national level, it is principally not correct that you suddenly come to the realisation one day that your values and ideals are in the ruling party and not your former party, which is in opposition and where you have weighed your chances of getting what you want to be infinitesimal.

For the records, it is well known in Sierra Leone that there was a criminal case against Mr. Rogers wherein (it is alleged) in January this year, he paid his brother who was an armed SSD police officer to accompany him to the Law Court premises.

That Officer (allegedly) ended up shooting someone on the instruction of Mr. Franklin Rogers. The person shot and almost killed was an SLPP supporter. This occurred in broad daylights in front of the Central Law Court. The SSD Officer was later arrested and he confessed that he was instructed by Mr. Rogers to shoot because he Mr. Rogers had feared that someone in the crowd was going to hurt him.

Mr. Rogers also made a statement to the CID. It could be recalled that since that incident much has not been heard from or of Mr. Rogers as he has been battling behind the scene to have the matter not criminally charged to court.

Mr. Rogers has partly succeeded because seven months on since the police concluded their investigations, nothing has come out of matter.

Seven months after that unfortunate incident, which caused Mr. Rogers to hibernate and go incognito, it is only now with his so-called choreographic announcement as an APC member that he has resurfaced.

The question that many critical minds would want to be answered i

This Rogers man is becoming my hero for doing the prudent thing. Guys like Rogers are few in the SLPP. Listen to the wise man: “People are aware of what the SLPP has become over the past three to four years. Activities have been marred with a lot of violence and infighting perpetrated by an individual and this is not a secret.”
I don't think there could be a more genuine justification than this.

And the blockbuster super-statements:“I cannot take a backseat at the SLPP. I want to serve the country. If the Party is not healthy and conducive to practicing the kind of politics I want to practice, and there is another institution or a very good political party like the APC, I see no reason why I should not be with them to serve this country if given the chance to do so. Just follow your good intentions Rogie God will see you through. If only other genuine  SLPPians can take a leaf from Rogie's book...........

Animals like Franklyn Rogers are a disgrace to humanity. He has gone to a party truly belongs. Calling this lowlife an opportunist is an understatement. This chap cannot even win a ward election.

Sadly, this is the case with a few of our Diaspora brethren. A handful of these megalomaniacs believe that just because they have stayed in a couple of years, entitles them be President. Even no-hopers like Franklyn, who was appropriately dubbed the Okada Aspirant because of his "car-lessness" and propensity to jump on okadas to commute during phony Alliance campaign missions, want to be a leaders.
This Frankly guy is just scum. Period. He has finally landed where he belongs - with the munku-bos-pah-matches comrades. Franklyn is noted to have said that if Logus, an ordinary bus driver in USA can become Minister of Transport under our useless President EBK, then he remains hopeful.

The Alliance of Megalomaniacs must be really proud of their wayward progeny.

And they are surprised that the masses rejected them robustly!

It is precisely for charlatans like Franklyn Rogers that the SLPP need to tighten the requirements for a flag bearer candidacy.  Rogers declared his candidacy for SLPP flag bearer, got his fifteen minutes of fame and jumped ship like a rat to beg for crumbs in the APC.  This guy is a disgrace to his family and the Rogers name.
