After all, if every economic issue is framed as a struggle between a hard-working white middle class and undeserving minorities, then workers of all shades will be left fighting for scraps while the wealthy withdraw further into their private enclaves - Barack Obama

SO THE NEWSPAPER STORY ABOUT THE FORMER 1ST LADY REPAYING SLCB 8 BILLION LEONES WAS A BIG BIG LIE ?
S.O. Blyden NAR STAR......

Pastor Mohamed Sesay, I have just been sent a copy of your article apologizing and retracting to the former First Lady Sia Koroma.
I just cannot understand what motivates you sometimes.
Do you know how much *DAMAGE* you have caused her and her husband, the former president, with that false report that she had a debt of 8 billion leones unpaid and which she rushed to pay? Sia did not deserve this. Look at the likes of Alieu Iscandari and others all jumping on the bandwagon now to flame the poor woman over your PAOPA LIES!
This is my problem with your PAOPA journalism!
You can say anything you like about Awareness Times but that paper always published THE TRUTH on President Bio. Awareness Times has NEVER sat down to cook up stories against any politician; from Bio down! Awareness Times never will do to Fatima Bio or Maada Bio what you people have done to Sia Koroma and Ernest Koroma *in just 100 days.*
Even to apologize and retract, you hid it inside the story and not on your front page. Very unfair of you! Pastor, you will always be a brother to me but I just have to let you know my feelings on this one. It is so despicable!
Sylvia Blyden.

*FORMER 1ST LADY DENIES REPAYING MONEY*

By Pastor Mohamed Sesay

Former 1st Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Mrs Sia Koroma, has categorically denied that she ever owed money to any bank in this country as reported by this paper past Wednesday.

In a front page story, this paper claimed that because of the Governance Transition Team Report which included in it names of individuals who owed monies to government owned Sierra Leone Commercial Bank, she hurriedly went to repay what she allegedly owed the bank.

This press did the story in good faith but because our source within the bank has shied away from helping us, we must safely come to the conclusion that the information he gave to us about that alleged loan, must be suspect.

This press therefore cannot stand fully by its front page story of past Wednesday but rather say that former 1st Lady may be right in saying that she not only never owed Sierra Leone Commercial Bank any money but that she didn't repay such huge sum into the bank last week.

In a phone call to this press, she sounded angry and distressed about the whole episode but reconciliatory as a true woman of God.

Editor Pastor Mohamed Sesay did pledge to retract the story and in that vein we do retract the story by agreeing with former 1st Lady that she is in the right by her counter claim.

We do say sorry to her for the distress caused her and pray that she forgives and forgets as a woman of God.

As she emphasized, any future allegations against her will be cross checked with her to verify either the truth of matter or to get her own side.
