After all, if every economic issue is framed as a struggle between a hard-working white middle class and undeserving minorities, then workers of all shades will be left fighting for scraps while the wealthy withdraw further into their private enclaves - Barack Obama

It is not true that the NPRC has ever denied the sale of Sierra Leone passport to the people of Hong Kong  who did not want to go under the Chinese Rule in the late 80s and early 90s. Why would they denied when it was something that the government before them did openly.

What to many informed Sierra Leoneans has been the contention was what happened to the proceeds from the NPRC sale of the passport. While nobody has ever questioned what the Momoh led government did to the proceeds of the sales of Sierra Leone passport to the people of Hong Kong, the NPRC officials have been questioned many times about this issue. To their credit the NPRC officials have always said that the proceeds were used to pursue the war while their critics had claimed that some of the proceeds were diverted into their pockets. The SLPP led government of late President Kabba investigated Dr. Abass Bundu who was the Minister of Foreign Affairs and he was exonerated. The Kabba government after their return from exile in 1998 tried to resume the sales since they were badly in need of foreign currency to run the country and to pursue the war. The man who was put in charge,  Chief Superintendent Solomon Musa was arrested by the Chinese authorities in Main Land Hong Kong with the pass ports. He was jailed while the SLPP minister late Lawyer Kebbie the deputy Justice Minister who accompanied CSP Solomon Musa was released. The SLPP abandoned Solomon Musa. On his returned he joined the APC and became chairman of the APC in Kailahun District.

When the APC came to power, Dr. Abass Bundu who decided not to join them was seen as a threat. President Koroma therefore decided to silence him by reopen  the passport case him. That matter has since been left sine die.

So Mr or Ms 'Disgusting', there is nothing disgusting about the transaction carried out by the NPRC.  It was done by a legitimate government. Most of us who were in the civil service or the Army and police knew that the first black and white small screen televisions that were distributed to all offices, police stations and military depots  to enable us watch the Zone 2 tournament then were part of the proceeds received from the sales of passport from Hong Kong. We also saw the quantum of new weapons and ammunition that the Army received to pursue the war. For the first time between 1992 and 1993 the tide turned against the rebels and we were able to push them to as far as the Liberian border before the sabotage started from ill fated APC operatives in the Army and the SSD. Do you remember Colonel Malodu Deen who defected with an entire battalion and huge amount of weapons from Teko Barracks in Makeni to the rebels in Kailahun?

Some of you guys are truly not au fait with things you want to comment on and or politicize. That is what I think is Disgusting!

As President Kabbah has reminded us, Julius Maada Bio has a marked history of corruption in the NPRC.

Another instance of the reckless and irresponsible manner in which the affairs of State were conducted by the NPRC regime is in the granting of a general power of attorney to Steven Bio, the brother of the erstwhile Head of State and government, to conclude all and any defence and military contracts anywhere in the world and at his sole discretion, as the accredited agent of the Government of Sierra Leone.

President Kabbah multiplied his charges against the Bio relatives in corruption:

“By virtue of such unusual authority, Steven Bio concluded a number of contracts running into tens of millions of dollars. There is no evidence that most of those contracts have been performed but Steven Bio has already been paid millions of dollars on them and he is claiming further amounts as arrears of payments.”

President Kabbah further charged Julius Maada Bio of involvement in corruption when he emphasized:

“Furthermore, in his capacity as Chairman of the NPRC, Brigadier J.M. Bio himself on the 1st February 1996, few days before he left office, caused the Government to pay into the account of his private firm, P. Banga Investment Limited the sum of Le235,000,000 in respect of contracts that that firm had purportedly entered into with Government for the supply of spare parts for the replacement of helicopter engines which did not belong to Government. Incidentally, it was into the account of this same firm in the Channel Islands that Brigadier Bio paid his own share of US$400,000 from the passport deal which was disclosed recently.”

That Julius Maada Bio was involved in corrupt practices has been ascertained by President Tejan Kabbah and Vice President Berewa among others. On the whole, the report card on Julius Maada Bio indicates a man unfit to hold the highest office owing to all the things the the principal members of the SLPP have said about him. So damning are the assessments by these SLPP men who watched and advised the NPRC, that their estimate of the military regime is a catalogue of follies in leadership and crimes too reprehensible to render Julius Maada Bio unfit to hold public office.

So the sum and substance of Julius Maada Bio is: Lapsed soldier, two-time coup plotter, human rights abuser, wife beater, persona non-grata in the U.S, self-confessed passport thief/seller, and pa-O-pa flagbearer of the SLPP.

How much was each passport selling for and how many were sold to buy weapons, televisions and probably other items.
