JOB Defeated In Kailahun

The former National Chairman and Leader of the main opposition SLPP, John Oponjo Benjamin woefully lost control of Kailahun in a district rerun elections conducted on Sunday.
Mr. Benjamin whose supporters only managed to clinch just one constituency in the entire Kailahun district could not withstand the overwhelming support of the Paopa faction whose candidates swept all executive positions in the district rerun elections.
Paopa's Foday Musa who emer...ged as the SLPP Chairman Kailahun district polled twenty votes defeating JOB's candidate who got only four votes.
Team JOB also lost all other executive positions to Paopa including delegates positions such as the District Young Generation Leader, the Women's Leader among others.
Meanwhile Mr Benjamin also suffered another humiliating defeat at the PPRC on Monday when his four month old petition was dismissed by the Commission.
Principally, Mr Benjamin had argued that the Rules and Regulations which the National Executive sent to the PPRC was not in conformity with the dictates of the Supreme Court Judgement of 15 December, 2015.
In reaching a determination, the PPRC states: "It is the view of the Commission that the Rules and Regulations are not in violation of the Supreme Court Judgment of 15th December 2015".
The PPRC ruling also reminded Mr Benjamin of the Supreme Court judgment in which it stated clearly that the National Executive Council of the SLPP is the body responsible for the conduct of National Officers' elections at a properly convened conference.
