After all, if every economic issue is framed as a struggle between a hard-working white middle class and undeserving minorities, then workers of all shades will be left fighting for scraps while the wealthy withdraw further into their private enclaves - Barack Obama

Police Invites Former President Koroma

Police in Sierra Leone have confirmed that they’ve invited for questioning the former president Ernest Bai Koroma and the rest of the executive of the opposition APC party. Koroma is Chairman and Leader of the party. AIG for Crime Services, Ibrahima Jah told me that the invite was part of investigations into a press release the party issued in December in which they said they wouldn’t cooperate with the commissions of inquiry into the financial activities of the Koroma administration, until certain demands were met.

“That’s incitement to rebellion and subverting a constitutional instrument”, Jah told me. Osman Yansanneh, the APC Secretary General confirmed to me that they’d been invited to appear today and that they would oblige. He said they’d however asked for a week extension for their national executive to assemble. A request the police have now granted.

EBK has to come clean. Does he prefer to play the role of former head of state (stateman) or does he want to be an opposition leader? Surely, he cannot be both. He should also understand that each of these roles have their perks.
