Two policemen have been charged together with a Nigerian for alleged possession of cocaine.
According to the police, the first accused, Isaac Chukwunonso on 16 July 2018 at Jendema, Mano River Sorogbema Chiefdom, in the Pujehun District imported from Guinea to Sierra Leone, 70 pallets of cocaine weighing 1kg.
The police charge further stated that the said accused conspired with Donald Kandeh Zizer and Ibrahim Bangura, both policemen, to import the illegal drugs.
In addition, it is alleged that Zizer stole 18 pallets of cocaine and between 20 and 21 July sold 270 grams.
They appeared before Magistrate Santigie Bangura on Friday 3 August 2018 to answer to eight counts contrary to the National Drug Control Act of 2008, and the Larceny Act of 1916.
No prosecution witness was present in court. The defence counsel applied for bail on their behalf to which the prosecution objected.
The accused were not granted bail and were sent on remand at the Correctional Center in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to 9 August 2018.
