The former Minister of Sport, Paul Kamara, said he failed to remove Isha Johnasen from the SLFA because of the former President Koroma’s intervention. He said on several occasions President Koroma overturned decisions reached by stakeholders.
Kamara revealed that stakeholders met the former President to broker a solution to the SLFA crisis.
They even tried closing the football academy and appealing to FIFA to ban Sierra Leone from their activities.
But the former President instructed the former Inspector General of Police, Francis Munu, to keep the football academy open, which angered the football stakeholders. Kamara also mentioned former President Koroma and other ministers were fighting him concerning the football issue. There was no solution and, according to Kamara, he stood his ground and former President Koroma removed him
from his ministerial position.
The Director of Sport, Ibrahim Bangura, said the football problems could have been solved by now except for former President Koroma. FIFA should have banned Sierra Leone in 2015 and the Ministry should have dissolved the football association.
