BINTUMANI FORUM

After all, if every economic issue is framed as a struggle between a hard-working white middle class and undeserving minorities, then workers of all shades will be left fighting for scraps while the wealthy withdraw further into their private enclaves - Barack Obama

"Do you know anyone who considers themselves Bullom? I have never come across anyone who considers themself Bullom" Spec

Northern Bullom (Sherbro) is still widely spoken in Kychom, Maputoloh, Makuma, Mislaya and villages along the Guinean border with Sierra Leone. However, Bullom speakers in villages with Kaffu Bullom chiefdom (Lungi area) have been largely absorbed by the susus and themne people. The Bulloms in the Lungi area used to speak the 'KAFU' dialect of Bullom, hence the name Kafu Bullom Chiedom.

The current Paramount Chief of Samu Chiefdom, PC Alikali Mena is bullom, and late Paramount Bai Sherboro Yumkella is partly bullom (mother). Yumkella means fine man in the northern bullom dialect.

Samu Chiefdom, part of Lokomasama, Kaffu Bullom, the freetown Peninsula, and Freetown were originally inhabited by the Bulloms until the arrival of the Themne and susu settlers along the coastline of the great scarcis and pamronkong river (river rokel). The Bulloms that escaped the onslaught of the invasion fled to Shenge, Bonth and Moyamba and later became the sherbro or the southern bullom.

Again, Maada Bio is Bullom.

Sometime last year I was in Sierra Leone when a friend invited me to visit his hometown in the southeast. We visited Bonthe. During the visit my friend was communicating in Sherbro and the people were so elated to converse in Sherbro especially when they noticed that my friend was not Mende. The people spoke Sherbro fluently with an accent free of Mende influence. I noticed the same also in Kailahun and Pujehun. I never knew there were still original Sherbros in the southeast; I used to mistake them for Mendes. It appeared the Sherbros have been under constant pressure from the Mendes to discard their language. We had lunch with the Bios who after some discussions admitted that they have both Sherbro and Kissi connections. The Bois mentioned they have been struggling to keep their Sherbro-Kissi identity for years and are worried their offsprings will not be that resilient enough to prevent a Mende domination.

The Krim have also been absorbed by the Mendes but majority of the residents of the Kpukumu chiefdom are ethnically Krim but culturally and linguistically Mende since their language is now extinct. A similar fate is awaiting the Sherboros and the Landogo (Lokos) in the north.

Spectator,

I hope you are only trying to be diplomatic here.  I don't expect a highly educated and smart guy like you to believe the rubbish that an uneducated fool like Kamalo Man would spit out.  The Salone history books published by renown Salone scholars are available in any corner of the world.  Poorly educated miscreants like Kamalo Man and Codeine should only be given audience when they are interacting with imbeciles of their ilk.

Kamalo Man, a Susu of Guinean extract has plunged himself into a Themne-Mende conflict in Bintumani.  Yet he is not as durable as the Themne and Mende boys on the forum.  One uppercut, he runs home crying and changes his moniker.  He is calling Maada Bio a Sherbro as a retaliation for the Mende boys referring to Samura Kamara as Loko.  The guy has the brain of an infant.

Specky a hidden truth that needs to be told revolves around the originality of the present generation of Mendes. I have been to the southeast especially Mende-dominated areas several times and during my stints in these areas, I talked to a lot of people both old and young. What I learned from my interactions is, like the Krios, all the original Mendes or let me say authentic Mendes are dead. I learned most of them were killed during the N'dorgborwusui uprising and those who fled and later returned had to die during the RUF incursion. The fact remains all those masquerading presently as Mendes are in actual fact Temnes, Kissis, Sherbros, Vais and Krims. The Mendes have been infiltrated such that their association with the tribes I have just mentioned has turned neg-pos.The Mendes have culturally benefitted from the aforementioned associations but on the other hand have destructively contaminated their history. It is really sad and worrisome! One shocking revelation is the present domination of northerners in formerly Mende-dominated areas like Bo, Kenema, Pujehun, Moyamba and Kailahun. In fact in places like Moyamba, the Temnes are stake holders in everything; they are part of every decision-making process. The Temnes control the economy in places like Bo, Moyamba and Kenema.

So if Kamalo Man believes Bio is not Mende he is right. I have heard it too from one Pa Ngobeh and one Yay Batofay in Kailahun.

Gahinteh, I believe the sister of Samura you are talking about is not a biological relative because the Samura that i know in the Bombay market area is not even a remastered or remixed Temne but an original one. Or maybe the lady was talking about another Samura I guess? Samura Kamara has no connection with either Lokkos or Limbas. If you talk about the Mendes you can be matrimonially and Mende-speaking-ability correct.

Codeine AKA Muse Kenema,

You have no credibility on this forum. You are a useless tribalist and a gbose gbose miscreant of order one. On the contrary, Gahinteh is a very respectable forumite with an impeccable knowledge of Sierra Leonean issues. Is it really difficult to identify you as the liar in this debate?

How can someone who has claimed had gone to bonthe district and heard sherbro speaking with out a Mende accent mistake a Sherbro person for a Mende?

How can a tribe ( Mende) that you say are basically extinct be able to put pressure on other tribes when to you there are no more original Mendes in Sierra Leone?

The reason you can tell there are other tribes masquerading as Mende is because there is a look, character and way of living for each tribe which they can be identified from.

I love the fact you said " my little trip to the south-east" because it was just that a little trip that you learnt nothing from! if you had dwelled there you would know the cleaner living and culture of the natives (Mende) and the dominance in the south-east

From what I've gathered you are a useless loser who will kill to have been a Mende man but can't so instead has turned to a jealous pathetic ass!!

With love from a PROUD MENDE girl

Detective Jay/Maxima,
You claimed to be educated but your mannerism shows otherwise. I can see that you cannot engage in an intelligent discourse with some level of civility and intelligent. I may be uneducated to you, but at least I know the history of my people and country. What else do you know besides spewing diatribe each time you lay your fingers on a keyboard?
