After all, if every economic issue is framed as a struggle between a hard-working white middle class and undeserving minorities, then workers of all shades will be left fighting for scraps while the wealthy withdraw further into their private enclaves - Barack Obama

MAADA BIO IS NOT WORTH WASTING TIME FIGHTING FOR: HE CANNOT BE PRESIDENT

Maada Bio is still banned from the U.S. No developing country can operate socio-politically and economically in the globalized international system with a President who is considered a criminal and morally and diplomatically forbidden from entering the U.S.

Is Sierra Leone, with all the problems she is saddled with, prepared to have a President who cannot enter the U.S, let alone parlay with world leaders who will obviously sideline him as well because of his problems with America ? Even Theresa May will not encourage him if Donald Trump cannot have him in his sight because of a criminal record he left in the U.S.

Stop allowing yourselves to be incited by him to cause trouble and chaos. He is not going to State House. He is just a blind man leading the blind into a ditch.

Kabs know better having spent all these years at the U.N. at Salone taxpayer expense, ( btw without visiting the country he supposedly represents) that been denied a visa for a private visit is diffferent from when you have Diplomatic cover as President of a sovereign country . Even Mugabe is allowed to enter the US during the General Assembly. I am not sure what the issue is with Maada and State Department but I am confident once elected , he will be able to enter to conduct the business of the country.

These words will come to haunt Kabs Kanu.  Julius Maada Bio has never been convicted for criminality anywhere in the world.  He is going to be Sierra Leone's next president.

Gahinteh, don't be so sure, bro! Fidel Castro and Khadafi, to name a few, were allowed entrance to New York only during UN sessions. They had limited freedom to roam the city-25 miles radius- and after the UN, they fold their tents and leave. Of course they had the freedom to bash the sitting and former US presidents all they want. Bio can do the same but he will NOT be allowed to conduct business like other leaders who do not have a ban on them. A lot of Bio supporters may not be aware of this but others do and are behaving recklessly.

KL,

You are confusing apples with oranges.  Maada Bio's matter if there is even one, is a private matter whereas the issues with Castro and Gaddafi were state issues.  In other words, there were rigid sanctions already imposed on the states of Libya and Cuba, with Libya even  been categorized as a terrorist state.

In the case of Cuba, the hostilities between the United States and that country had culminated into the Bay of Pigs invasion on April 14 1961.  Moreover, with Cuba throwing itself into the arms of the then Soviet Union, it became a hostile nation to the United States.

Don't conflate apples with oranges, my brother.  If you cannot remember, the Bio issue had been clarified by a senior American official in Freetown with a declaration that there was no ban on the man to enter the United States.  Look, no one hides from justice in the United States.  Freetown is not a safe haven.

Bio, the candidate does not need to travel to the US.  But Bio the president will come to the US and I hope you will be present at Dulles airport with your green white and blue flag to welcome the man.

First of all wouldn't it be a concern to you for a presidential candidate who cannot travel to the United States but will like to use his presidential powers to do so? Be honest you will be among the first people to be concerned if someone from another political party were to attempt this stunt.

Talking about apples and oranges, Bio, we all know, has accepted and apologized for human rights abuses during his tenure as president. How do we know the eggs are, or are not, being laid as we debate, to produce the "chickens" that will make his presidency more uncomfortable for him? Personally, I will not take the chance with Bio regardless of his political affiliation. This man is a Donald Trump in the making.

KL,

How do you know that Maada Bio cannot travel to the United States?  Besides, is it a requirement for a presidential candidate in Africa to travel to the United States?  Many folks in Africa have ran and won the presidency without traveling to the United States.  Why should traveling to the United States be a big deal?

Second, when did Maada Bio ever apologize for human rights abuses in Sierra Leone.  Man, you need to get the facts right.  You are entitled to your opinions but you are not entitled to your own facts.

My friend you are one of those people who live on dreams.lets have this conversation after the elections. Even maada himself knows it's just a stunt to increase his popularity and make some quick buck. Sierra Leoneans are now too smart for Bio's antics

How do I know Maada Bio cannot travel to the United States? Because he said it himself. Where do you spend your time when you are not on Earth? Lol!

Does Ngoh Bio's alleged status in the US really matter that much when it comes to his electability by the people of Sierra Leone? Could he win the election only to be told  by someone in the US that he is not the democratically elected president by the majority will of Sierra Leoneans?

If it makes absolute sense that if Ngoh Maada Bio doesn't stand a chance of winning the next presidential elections , then the APC's  Rev. Kabs-Kanu should be doing the APC a favour by either keeping quiet about it or by very happily encouraging instead of discouraging Ngah Maada Bio's candidature.

Or perhaps the  shrewd and savvy Rev. Kabs-Kanu is convinced that the SLPPers won't believe a word he is saying and will therefore launch Ngoh Bio as their candidate and thereby be defeated?

Maada Bio was a supreme council member in the NPRC when SAJ murdered Bambay Kamara and others in 1992. However, despite his membership of the supreme council, Maada Bio did not hold a very senior cabinet position in the NPRC until SAJ Musa was kicked out in 1993.

Many senior members of the NPRC who held senior cabinet position when the crime was committed in 1992 are in the USA or come and go out of the USA without any qualms.  Do I hear you say people like Idrissa Kamara, Charles Mbayoh and Colonel Gbondo etc come to mind. Similarly, some of the senior civilian members who held senior cabinet positions in the NPRC such as Dr. Kandeh Yumkella, Dr. Samura Kamara and Frank Kargbo all travel to and fro the USA without  any hindrance as a result of the death of Bambay and others. If the NPRC crime was a collective responsibility then it is safe to say that these civilians bear the same responsibility. Be it as it is , one would wonder as to why the USA would pick on Bio? I do not believe the story been propagated by this so called Rev. Kabba Kanu. It is a manufactured lie. But we all know who this guy it when it comes to propagating mischief.

Maada Bio has said several times in no uncertain terms that  he is not allowed into the USA because he abused his asylum  procedure. And we all know that once you abuse your asylum procedure it is difficult to be given another visitor BI/B2 visa which is the visa most asylum seekers use when the first entered the USA to claim their asylum. If that is the case, Maada will have no difficulty if he is elected and is accorded diplomatic status to enter the USA since a different category of visa will be accorded to him.

KL did you say Maada has not apologized for the human right abuses the NPRC committed? Please go the TRC report and you will see the portion which dealt with his testimony, acceptance of the wrong of the NPRC and apology. This is something that even Strasser, Idriss Kamara and Kerefa Kargbo that are all darlings of the current APC today have not done.
