After all, if every economic issue is framed as a struggle between a hard-working white middle class and undeserving minorities, then workers of all shades will be left fighting for scraps while the wealthy withdraw further into their private enclaves - Barack Obama

We have to be very careful in assessing his response

To many diaspora compatriots residing in western countries who have been influenced by western culture, western media, and so on, his responses to the allegations are very weak but to the Salone electorate (whose votes will determine the outcome) I don’t think it will matter that much. Same goes for Bio’s weak performances in recent interviews - his base won’t care.

This video may have been developed and uploaded by NGC folks.  They believe that Third World Banana politics is the same as politics in developed countries.  They fail to realize that Third World countries like seeing their leaders displaying their emotions, a no no in developed countries.

Elitist Kandeh Yumkella with his taste for sartorial elegance will never win elections in Sierra Leone.  He is too distanced from the grassroots to ever be voted into State House.  His supporters in Diaspora are wasting their time.  Come next year, it is Maada Bio and Samura Kamara that will compete in the runoff.

Samura Kamara's alleged penchant for angry outbursts, is not the issue. This interview confirmed what I have always said about Samura Kamara. He is not an intelligent man. Apparently aware of his own mental dullness, Samura Kamara spent his days at our foreign ministry as a quiet and incompetent man, clearly lacking the vigor to promote our national interests within the international system.

Samura's lack of common sense came to the fore when he actually reiterated during the interview that he was "chosen" by Ernest Koroma.  A smart candidate would have avoided that ugly part of his own rise to APC, party leadership.

As they say in public relations, do not publicly repeat the embarrassing things your opponents are using against you. Be prepared to publicly defend yourself without being the advertiser   of those weaknesses. Why remind us about being "chosen" by Ernest Koroma, when the unethical process which took you to the top as standard-bearer, renders you an unprincipled and dubious candidate?

When asked to discuss what he plans to achieve as president, Samura thoughtlessly stated that he wants to "continue" with Ernest Koroma's policies. Whatever that means, a candidate guided by common sense would have tried to be his own man. Samura should have specifically discussed his plans for the nation. His grammatical poorness and the inarticulate manner in which he tried to communicate, simply  reinforced my belief  that Samura is not a particularly intelligent man. The production of cogent arguments, possession of self-confidence and a fair display of brilliance and realism, are some of the traits of a good foreign minister. Samura failed as foreign minister because he lacks the mental ability for that particular post.  Those embarrassing traits easily got the best of Samura, during this interview.  He made references to the sensitive and highly important positions he has held in government without evening bothering to discuss his achievements, if any, in those positions.

Any Sierra Leonean with even a peanut-sized brain can watch that interview and realize that Samura is an idiot, who rose to power for two factors.  His ability for grovelling to those in power, and his status as a Bombali-born Sierra Leonean, with the latter factor specifically  explaining why Ernest Koroma chose the man, Samura's conspicuous idiocy not withstanding.  How can any sincere observer fail to deduce from that interview, that Samura Kamara is almost a veritable idiot?

When it comes to  Sierra Leonean politics, I do not take prisoners. I have an American passport, one of the most coveted travel documents in the world. Sierra Leone, however, is my NATIVE land, the place where I NATURALLY belong.  Peeper Johnson, please criticize the case I have made against Samura Kamara by delivering  a rebuttal. You cannot!    The case against Samura comes from me, a conscious Sierra Leonean. When it comes to my fatherland, I do NOT take prisoners.

I will not make a case against Samura Kamara based on a questionable video in which the audio and the video do not synchronize.

Dear Peeper Johnson: Here is a lesson in reading and comprehension. I did not ask you to make a case against Samura Kamara.  I suggested that you criticize my observation of Samura Kamara by refuting my points with your version of the "fact."    I called Samura an idiot. He is an idiot. The man has neither common sense, nor the required mental ability to capably handle the presidency.
Point number 2: Samura is a political failure. In a normal society, Samura would never think of contesting the presidency. He failed as Bank Governor. His tenure as minister of finance was just as uninspiring.

Samura lacks self-confidence, a fact which reduced him to a "Mumu foreign minister" when he was in the ministry of foreign affairs. Lacking self-confidence, Samura did not participate in a major interview, months after he was chosen to lead the APC. The circumstances surrounding his rise to APC party leadership required him to compensate for that unethical process by mounting an impressive campaign that could have deflected attention from the dishonorable way he became standard-bearer. Lacking self-confidence, Samura remained silent, as if there was no need to face the people.  The clip posted above by Brother Specky 007 is only a  montage. That is not the whole story.  I have watched the WHOLE  interview. In that interview, which amounted to his debut since becoming an APC standard-bearer, Samura blundered and misspoke. Rather than make a case for his presidential bid, Samura wasted precious time exposing himself as a moron.  That man, Samura Kamara, is not a particularly intelligent man.

Was Bra Enviable in hibernation during the Bio PR fiasco-disaster with the BBC? If a so-called intellectual can come down this heavily on Samura for minor slips like outbursts which can be corrected in seconds, one wonders what awaits Bio in the world of ethics, fairness and integrity. Let us assume Bra E is still to be aware of the video that went viral on the social media, the video that became an instant hit, the video which became a topic for discussion even among the illiterate petty traders at Abacha street and its environs, the video which transformed Bio into the biggest laughing stock among the street beggars and worst of all the video which featured in all local TV and radio talk shows with unprecedented derision.

That video is here in bintuland and is still active and accessible! And you know what? Everyone is waiting for Bra Enviable's take and with bated breath.

Bra E you wrote “The clip posted above by Brother Specky 007 is only a montage”. Actually I didn’t post the video because I don’t know how to post videos here that I see on WhatsApp. I appealed for these videos to be posted in a thread I created the other day.

By the way do you mind if I post an article you wrote two years ago on a potential KKY run?

Wow!!! politics aside, can a mentally dull guy earn a Ph.D in Economics from a British university, lecture at Fourah Bay College and work at the International Monetary Fund (IMF)?  C'mon, this is too much for me to comprehend.  How many educated guys on this forum can even successfully go through a bachelor's degree program in Economics at an accredited university?

Bra E and KKY attended CKC in Bo. Bra E while a Bio admirer before the advent of KKY is caught between the devil and the deep sea.

That not withstanding, I do not think we should judge candidates on their oratory skills. Berewa was rejected by many especially those in the Diaspora because of his heavy thong. Koroma who was elected cannot be compared to Berewa in terms of  intellect. But Sierra Leoneans want sweet talk politician, and in this election if that is the main criteria, then KKY will easily clinch the presidency.

I remember how Pateh Bah of FBC and Abdulai Bum Wai of NUC were good orators but two of the worst Student Union preso that went through the University Of Sierra Leone.

@Memuna Foday,

I was one of those early on during the controversy over Samura’s PhD controversy who was convinced beyond reasonable doubt he was a genuine PhD holder. That notwithstanding, most academics and technocrats are not great politicians. They are usually out of their depth.

Both Samura and Bio (soon to be a PhD holder from what I hear) should have been better prepared by their campaign teams for those interviews.

@Zintabeh when were they President? I have heard of Pateh Bah but not Wai.

Bum Wai was President of NUC when Pateh was President of FBC. Both were formidable orators but somehow corrupt. This was just after Student Union politic was restored by the Momoh led APC Government. Bum Wai was arrested by his own cabinet ministers  and locked up at CID on the instruction of the late Bambay Kamara. Pateh who was also NUC preso was corrupted by the same Bambay. What you could not take from them was the fact that  if you give them a floor, they will nail it with a good speech. This was especially true of Bum Wai.

Bra Enviable graduated from FBC just around that time and he became a Research Assistant at NUC English Department. Dr. Julius Spencer was his mentor. The Bra nailed most female students at NUC then. He was referred to by the male student as " Nyaga ti lew". I am sure the Bra is now more matured. His Compatriot Prof Malam O Sankoh who was also an RA is now a different man.  Focus and upright!

Oga Zintabah,

I hear that the 'nailing' of female students by men in positions of power (lecturers, Research Assistants, etc,) at African universities is an activity that goes on unchecked.  Can you throw some light on this please?

Surprise, how can Bra enviable be in the league of Sengbe and MKK when the duo are older than Bra Enviable mentor Dr. Julius Spencer. Sengbe fit born Bra enviable. Of the four RA's at NUC in 1989/199- school year, Willie Taylor (Chemistry Department) and Bra Enviable (English  Department) were the youngest. De Bra was just 22 years old.
